Demi Tebow Wrote a Book. Here's Why Her Husband Tim Signed It
Benevolent patriarchy is still patriarchy.
Maybe you saw this part on my social media this week.
It was ironic because Demi Tebow, former beauty queen and author of A Crown That Lasts, married into one of the most influential families in the SBC megachurch I’m from, which I describe in my book, A Well-Trained Wife. She married one of the sons of one of the women who trained wives like me.
It was ironic because Demi’s book is about how your voice and accomplishments don’t matter unless you find your identity in what you do for God and faith. The marketing copy for her book says, “The purpose of our lives is to serve God and others.”
That’s painful irony for me. My book is the story of how I took that advice to heart, gave it my whole soul and body, watched it break me and my family while I endeavored to selflessly serve, nearly died, and learned to put myself back together again. I know how her book turns out; I lived it—minus the money and crown.
