This is such a beautiful poem, the kind that can only be from a deep knowing, deep love. My thoughts are you with you today and with the memory of this sweet Emily I only wish I had known through the pages as I do you.

Your poem speaks to the depth of a woman’s heart and soul. One that should never be quelled! I listened to your book on Audio and fell in love with your writing and the strength of your will and soul to come out of an abusive culture to survive and protect your children. Being a women from a traditional patriarchal family, I can relate to some of the control and abuse you suffered. I’m 77 y o and still healing from “not good enough” and the physical results of being driven to validate and prove I am worthy of love and support. I went through most of my life with self-hatred and suicidal thoughts. Today I am better and learning to understand my shadow, my ego structures that negate my worth and wholeness. It takes a lifetime to undo the feelings of hopelessness and self loathing. God bless you for your work and your courageous voice! We need you!!!! (Prema IRELAN)

What a heart wrenching lament for your friend. Emily sounds like the real deal. I have studied Emily Dickinson as a passion project for many years so it resonates. Also, Photini is/was my patron saint. Lastly, I have that ED illustrated quote about lanterns in my office. I am truly sorry for the world’s loss in your friiend.
