I think it’s the same as with any denomination—there are some orthodox churches where fundamentalism thrives, and and others where it doesn’t. I definitely steer clear of certain priests and their teachings, for that very reason. I was raised in orthodox fundamentalism and I have spent 25 years deconstructing from it.
So many contributors to AFR fit this bill. I think the shortage of priests also contributes to converts being ordained before they’ve even hit 5 years and definitely before they’ve changed their fundamentalist outlook
I see this too. I am in the Anglican tradition and at first was shocked when I joined online groups and found clerics talking about Wilson and Baucham. I think some get pulled in the reformed to liturgical pipeline, others via culture war alliances and a strong contingent via classical homeschooling.
I think the latter two are where ppl maybe begin to consume content and then they are down the Canon Press streaming pipeline or whatever and all the echo chambers insider/outsider dynamics really kick in.
Tia, I’m not familiar with the shorthand for the church groups you use. Could you include a primer? Thank you. As an aside Doug Wilson’s group is slowly taking over parts of Moscow, Idaho , just 30 miles from me. It is a small university town. I know current and past members. It has been a slow indoctrination starting with their Logos school in the ‘80s then St. Andrew’s College located prominently the 6 or 7 blocks of Main Street. They are buying up the town and businesses. It’s been the plan all along.
I have one-- the FUNDIE CHEATSHEET on my website. It might need updating tho. In this case CREC stands for Wilson's denomination, which is either Covenant Reformed Evangelical Churches or Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, depending on the era. But i'm guessing you know that being so close to it!! Anything else I'm happy to explain
